Blogging Tips: What Do You Want to See?

This entry is part 5 of 6 in the series Blogging Tips

As I’m elbow deep in writing some tips for increasing the speed of your site I’m wondering if any of you have any questions or tips you’d like to see me cover in the future? I’ve done some other blogging tips in the past but there’s a lot more that I could cover. The type of tips I do are technical. We’re not talking about tips on how to write a good article, more like how to physically make your blog better.

So, if you have a topic you’d like to see covered then fire away.

I know you love WordPress. Can you tell me if additional/different templates are available for purchase? Because I really don’t like any of the ones I have seen. WordPress seems very…. bland; no personality (to me, anyway). Also, why did you pick Disquss over IntenseDebate?

    • You can find them for sale. If you do a search for premium templates for WordPress you’ll find a bunch of sites. WordPress themselves only put up free ones on their site though.

As for Disqus, I started using it because it was what BoLS was using. I’d seen it used at various other sites I frequent so it was an easy choice for that reason. Since then I’ve tried out IntenseDebate to see what I thought and I just prefer Disqus. The user dashboard is better, you can easily see where you posted and when. The administrative features are better in Disqus as well. I’d do an article on this but I don’t have enough to justify it.
