Quick Shot – Progress Update for Joe
Just wanted to take a quick shot of my painting station to show the progress that’s been made so far for Joe’s Marines. Contained in here we have, from back to front: 10 Veterans, 5 Devastators, 5 Command Squad, 5 Devastators, 10 Assault Squad, 10 Tactical Marines, 5 Tactical Marines with 3 more in progress (which since this picture are complete). You’ll have to excuse the flash, didn’t have much light otherwise.
Five Tacts are just about complete and I may be able to get another five completed. Worst case is I get a good head start on the other five. We’re in the homestretch.
Since the last update for Joe, the Tact Squad that was in progress is complete and the 5-man heavy bolter Dev squad is now complete. Unfortunately I’ve run out of primer though and won’t be able to pick some up until Wednesday. Till then!
Another quick update for Joe. Wrapping up the last 4 models to finish off another Tact Squad and in the process of priming a 5-man Dev Squad. With the completion of the Tact Squad that puts me at 50 painted models with almost just as many left to go. Things are speeding up though, IE: less distractions, so the last half of this should move along faster than it began.
The Assault Squad is complete and we’re working on a Tact Squad. Next week I should be able to get in more time than usual to make a push on the progress.
A quick update on the work for Joe. Five Devs are completed and an Assault Squad is about halfway complete. Once the Assault Squad gets completed I’ll be very close to the half-way mark on having painting completed. The second week in July I’ll have a lot more free time than usual and I’m really aiming to make that week a full on push. I will get these done, I swear!
Feeling bad with so little progress the past few weeks I set out this past weekend to get things kicked back into gear. Over the weekend I finished off 5 more Tacts to complete that squad. I put some final touches on the 10 Veterans to finally have those fully complete, forgot a few highlights previously.
Regretfully I’ve not made enough progress on Joe’s stuff worth mentioning. The plan of attack is to dive in this weekend and make some true progress.
Things have continued to slow progress on painting, damn you life! I have managed to base coat 10 Tacts and 5 of them are painted to completion. Also 2 Rhinos, 1 Razorback and 1 Predator are all base coated. I have 2 Predators left to base coat and then the tanks are done.
Test Figure – Update
Progress has been a bit lower than I’d like but progress is progress. The first unit always takes longer since I’m working out the technique I plan to use for the entire army and refining my approach. That being said, the 10-man Veteran Squad is now complete. I should have some squad pictures up this week. I’ve primed 10 Tact Marines and 5 Devastators also. I’ll be moving on to painting 10 Assault Marines this week and hopefully with the technique figured out it will go much faster.
Test Figure
Here’s the test model I was working on. Joe wanted mostly black with some gold trim. The bolter isn’t done yet though and I have a purity seal to put over the hole in the backpack but otherwise it’s “finished”. Joe is having me just do the black and gold while he’ll take care of the smaller details once he has the figures. The black has three shades of gray for highlights though it’s hard to pick them out in the shots. I wanted to get some shots quickly this morning before work while I had light so they aren’t great.
I managed to get the last 10 Tact Marines assembled this weekend, 2 Rhinos base coated, 5 Command Squad base coated and 10 Veterans base coated with one test model just about complete. Now that I’m on to painting I think things are going to start flying along.
After a long, long (did I say long?), time of putting together a chapter worth of Marines we’re just about ready to start putting a brush to the models. This weekend I’ll get a test model done and track down the beast that seemed to have hidden my camera on me and slay it so that I can get shots up of the test model.
I’ve completed assembling two 5-man Devastator squads and the 6-man Red Scorpions. All I have left to finish is 10 Tactical Marines and 10 Assault Marines. I’ll be starting on the Assault Marines tonight. If things go well then this weekend I’ll have all the assembling completed and moving on to painting. It’s a week behind what I was aiming for but Easter took out a chunk of my time to work on the figures.
The past two weeks have been crazy but things should be back to normal, meaning wrapping up the assembly stage of Joe’s figures. I’m going to push this week to get the last of the units assembled so that next week I can move on to painting. Painting will be a long and monotonous process but I think it will go along faster than the assemble stages have gone…I hope.
