Weekly Wrap-up: My Nose is Tuffed Up

Small wrap-up today. Wednesday I got in a really fun team game. Next month we’ll be doing a team tournament so I’ll be working through some lists leading up to it. I’ll most likely be playing my Orks, though I may stray to the Necrons. The first time I ran my Necrons in a team tournament we did really well and it was a blast. I was partnered with a Tau player I know and we went 2-1 for the day, losing out to Kamui and a Space Wolf player in the final game. Weekly Wrap-up: Another Slow Week

Played Ming on Wednesday in a dawn of war annihilation game. He had his Ultramarines and I brought Fate’s Angels, my Marines. The game was a pretty slow game that was mostly uneventful. The board was dominated by large hills that vehicles couldn’t go over, so there were really only three lanes to move forward through. Weekly Wrap-up: Beer!

I’d love to say I got a lot accomplished last week and this weekend but that’s just not true. You see, Saturday was the Maine Brew Fest in Portland and like any craft beer lover I attended. I went along with Kamui and seven others to drown ourselves in some great local brews. If anyone is in the area I highly recommend Sebago Brewing Company’s bourbon barrel cask aged barley wine. Weekend Wrap-up: Lots O’ Stuff

I got in the usual game on Wednesday and put down my tried and true Speedmek list and pulled out a minor victory over Chaos. We were play testing Recovery for the upcoming October tournament next week. I had tried last week a test an Ork list that was more shooty, which I feel has potential but I don’t have enough time to tweak it with play testing before next week. Weekend Wrap-up: Mix O’ Stuff

Wednesday night I got in a game against a new comer to the shop. We played a 1,500 game of Marine on Marine for annihilation. I got smoked, plain and simple. For some reason when I play annihilation I always forget to go for the easy kill points and spend too much time focusing on the tougher units, the threats. By the time I realize I’m down on points it’s too late to climb out of the hole. One of these days I’ll play that damn mission correctly.  Read more... Weekend Wrap-up: I’m Not Here!

This past Wednesday we had the second game in our two week tournament. I actually played two games for it. If you play more than one game then you take the average of your games as your score. If you guessed I lost the first one and wanted to play a second to raise my average score then you’d have guessed correctly. I did win the second so at least that plan worked out. The result of the first game is now an article in progress for the Lessons Learned series, which should go up next week some time.  Read more...
