Writer’s Block

Lately my mind is a cold dark place when it comes to ideas for articles. I’m struggling to put out anything at all lately. I need a shot of inspiration but I’m not finding it from my usual haunts or methods.

Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Quick update and fluff

Hello all!

I know I’ve been absent for some time, but I have been making slow progress on painting and haven’t really felt like I had much to post.  I am four marines away from competing my core of Grey Hunters and will post a group shot when I get there.  I’ve also started on a squad of Long Fangs to break things up, pics of them will be posted when they’re finished.  For now I’ve written the second half of the origin story for the Reavers.  If you don’t remember it or haven’t read it the first half is here:   http://creativetwilight.com/2011/07/kamuis-summer-challenge-2011-reavers-origin-part-1/

Now on to part two:

Remembering 9/11

Greetings my fellow gamers, Amberclad here again and today I was going to write up a review of the new space marine game, but my thoughts have been on more serious matters. That’s right; I’m talking about 9/11.

Orks: My Realization

Last night at my FLGS I played a game with my Orks, which I haven’t done in five months. This month’s tournament will score painting and then in November, details coming soon, we’ll be hosting a large hobby tournament. I figured since I’ve played the hell out of my Marines that I’d toss down Orks for these events, seeing as my Chaos force is still in the modeling stages.

Kill Team Gripes

Every now and then at the LGS we do a Kill Team tournament on our 40K night. It’s perfect in that we can play a 3-4 round tournament in a few hours and nobody is out late on a work night. Plus it just mixes things up a bit so we’re not doing the same thing week in and week out.

Codex: Bolter Bitches

Greetings all! Amberclad here again, and today I want to talk about your sister….um…I mean the SISTERS OF BATTLE!!!

So unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that over the past two months, GW has released the new Sisters of Battle codex via White Dwarf. Now, when I heard the news that this was going to be another White Dwarf codex, I cringed, seeing as the last one (Blood Angels) was god awful. I was at least hoping they would have learned from that debacle and made the necessary changes to make this a quality codex. So let’s take an in depth look at the new rendition of the Sisters of Battle.

A Bit of a Break and Changing Gears

With ‘ard Boyz over, and not having qualified for regionals, it’s time to set aside my Marines for a while and focus on my Chaos army. For the past eight months I’ve played the hell out of my Marines and though I’m far from bored with them, rather the beauty of Marines if you ask me, I want to get my Chaos army on its feet.

Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: One Down…

Ok, so the summer is slipping away and I’m far from finished with my army.  The Bjorn conversion took a lot more time than I’d expected.  The good news is that I’ve finished the modelling I need to field my list, and the paint scheme I’ve chosen lends itself well to batch painting.  I have one full squad of Grey Hunters finished and a bunch more underway.

Below are some pictures of the first squad finished, 10 Grey Hunters with 2 Plasma Guns, one Mark of the Wulfen, and one Wolf Standard:

‘ard Boyz 2011: The Bumpy Road

I had all these intentions of going into ‘ard Boyz completely prepared and ready to fight my way to the top but somewhere along the way something changed. I had my list concept determined and was playing the hell out of my Marines so I’d know them inside and out. The lists always focused on a core utilizing Shrike, Assault Marines and Assault Terminators, the rest was adjusted as needed for whatever point value we were playing that day. Then one day I said the hell with it, I’m going to just show up and have fun.

Choas Marines: The Early Stages of a New Army

Last month I put up an article about an incredible find. As the result of that find I’m now well on my way with a new Chaos army. I have a reasonable core for the army and it’s time to start considering purchases.

Lessons Learned: Campaign Report Week #3

Continuing into week #3 for the campaign at the LGS I was paired off against a Chaos Marine player. The game was seize ground with pitched battle deployment and a few catches. First, terrain features were nominated as objectives. Second, as the defender (the Imperial side having lost last week), I had to deploy my entire army first and then the attacker got to decide if he wanted first or second turn.

40K and Hoarding

I have been playing in an escalation campaign at my FLGS and I made a tactical mistake before the first game was ever played. I chose to play Grey Knights.

Know when to hold em

Last Wednesday I got a 1500 point game in against Amberclad. I brought out my Grey Knights and he fielded his Dark Eldar. You may not know this but Amberclad is kind of a big deal. I will also tell you that I have beat him, more than once. However he won this game. By that I mean he beat me like a school girl and I cried.

Table Top Judo

Hello all Stealthy Stealth here a new contributor on Creative Twilight and I am here to talk about confrontation. Now this isn’t the standard battle between little pirates, ninjas, aliens, zombies, vampires and robots. Its the battle that goes on between the players wielding these forces.

I’ve Got That New Army Itch

I’ve been seriously considering starting up a new army but haven’t nailed down what yet. To complicate the decision there’s the inevitable new Necron codex due out sooner than later but until I see it I can’t say for sure they’ll be my next investment.
