What should I do?

The local guys are throwing a semi big one day fluff tournament. Painting scores and fluff are big. So I will be bringing my Mek Ork list. This has the best paint and the most conversion work out of any of my armies. I will put some photos up in the next week. This is the list.

Global vs. Local: Why you should meta-game your local environment

I’ve come to a realization that blogs such as 3++, Yes The Truth Hurts, and forums such as DakkaDakka or Warseer will only get you so far when it comes to list builidng. Yes, I understand the concepts of math-hammer, and I understand the general themes of 5th edition (namely that mech is king).

April Tournament: Tau Test List Version 2

This has grown out of my previous incarnation of my list as an attempt to get more delaying units and more plasma shots in my army. While still not an “internet approved” list, it is alot better for our local meta than the first list I think.

April Tournament Test List: 2000 Point Tau

This will be a departure from my usual list, as it hase become readily apparent that everyone has figured out how to absolutely own my poor fish-men. I’ve found that the mobility of recent 5th edition armies simply trumps my ability to shoot them as they close. So I’ve decided to go mobile myself. Here’s what I’m thinking.

Test List: 2K of Fate’s Angels

April will be a 2K tournament at my FLGS and even though it’s a good five weeks out, I’m already working on some lists. The last tournament really infused me with enthusiasm I haven’t had with my Marines in quite some time. Always loved the genetically enhanced super soldiers but until recently I was just unsure what I wanted to do with them.

Quick Report & Marine List Idea

After the beating I took at Battle for the Burbs I’ve decided to run my Marines for the 1,750 tournament this Saturday at my FLGS. My Orks are still sobbing in their fungus beer. I wanted to test out a list I ran once previous. It has a ton of fire support with some assault elements in the form of Assault Marines, Assault Terminators and Shrike.

Ork Tournament List and Quick Report

March 12th is a tournament in Watertown, Massachusetts being held by the Dorkamorka group called Battle for the Burbs. It’s a 1,750 tournament with 30 players, the biggest tournament I’ve attended. The event is heavily comped, I’ll save you all from the details, and I’ll be bringing along my Orks for it. I’ve devised a few lists but I think I’ll end up going with this one. It’s a bit different than my usual lists but still the same style.

Army List: Fate’s Angels at 2,000

Yesterday was supposed to be the 4th week in our campaign at the LGS but we were snowed out. So, next week we’ll pick up where we left off and that’s a 2,000pt game. Since the prior week was 1,850 I decided to build off that list with some tweaks. Like the last one, this is a bit of an experiment. The experimental aspect is the Ironclad on foot. In the past I’ve generally run two of these both in Pods along with an empty Pod to get both Ironclads down on turn #1. I’ve had mixed success with this and so I’m always trying something different. Here’s the list:

Army List: 1,850 With Shrike

To bring some of you up to speed if you don’t read here regularly. Lately I’ve been playing with Shrike and have really enjoyed what he offers to my army. I’ve been toying around with different lists just to feel things out. Right now I’m not after the most super-competitive list. I’m playing, experimenting and learning. So, bear that in mind with the below list. First up, here’s the list:

Ork List: 1K Speedmek for Team Game

Next week for the campaign at the LGS we’ll be doing a team game with each player fielding a 1K list. So, here’s my drafted list:

500pt Ork List for Upcoming Campaign

At the LGS we’re going to be doing a campaign starting next week. The first game is a mega-battle. An old fashioned free-for-all with however many players attend. It’s set for 500pts with a limited force org: 1 HQ, 1 Troop, and 0-1 everything else with the ability to double up any slot other than HQ. After pondering over a few different ideas I’ve settled for this:

January Team Tourney: 1250 Point Tau List

Team tournaments are always fun. I like being partnered up with a random person. The idea of not knowing what half your army is going to consist of prior to entering battle is enormously challenging. Four generals combining and pitting brain power and list power over three games of Warhammer 40k generally results in a hilariously good time for all involved.

January 1,250 Team Tournament: Necron List

Whenever we have a team tournament I can’t help but consider fielding my Necrons. I love these crazy robots and in a team environment I can hope to get paired with a partner that can cover the inherit weakness of the Necrons. Then again, I was once paired with Tau, definitely not covering my assault weakness, and we did well since we blasted everything before it reached us. Of course, it was a team of Orks and Space Wolves that finally did us in but we had a hell of a day regardless.

1,850 Shrike List – Final Testing

This Saturday is the 1,850 tournament at the LGS and Wednesday will be the last chance I get to try out the list before that. With the feedback I’ve received on my previous posts and my own tweaking, here’s what I hope is the final list.

Fast & Furious 500pt Tournament List

The LGS is holding a 500pt tournament starting this coming Wednesday. Each game will be one hour and the following criteria is in place for the force org: HQ 1, Elites 0-1, Troops 1, Fast Attack 0-1, Heavy Support 0-1. You can have one slot be two choices except for HQ. This is pretty standard for us when we do small games like this and I enjoy how it works out.
