Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Wrap-up Pictures

Well, as I mentioned in my last post I’ve not managed to paint 2000 points of Reavers by the end of summer.  I did manage to get 1850 by the Standish Standoff, and I’ve been happy with the performance of what I’ve got.  I did struggle in the last game against Stealthy Stealth’s orks, but my shooting rolls were horrendous so I can’t really blame the list.  I also made a couple of mistakes throughout the day but I came in 11th for battle points with two wins and a loss.  Here’s a few pictures of what I’ve finished, as well as the Thunderwolf Cavalry I’m working on:  Read more... Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Quick update and fluff

Hello all!

I know I’ve been absent for some time, but I have been making slow progress on painting and haven’t really felt like I had much to post.  I am four marines away from competing my core of Grey Hunters and will post a group shot when I get there.  I’ve also started on a squad of Long Fangs to break things up, pics of them will be posted when they’re finished.  For now I’ve written the second half of the origin story for the Reavers.  If you don’t remember it or haven’t read it the first half is here:   http://creativetwilight.com/2011/07/kamuis-summer-challenge-2011-reavers-origin-part-1/

Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: One Down…

Ok, so the summer is slipping away and I’m far from finished with my army.  The Bjorn conversion took a lot more time than I’d expected.  The good news is that I’ve finished the modelling I need to field my list, and the paint scheme I’ve chosen lends itself well to batch painting.  I have one full squad of Grey Hunters finished and a bunch more underway.

Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Reavers Origin Part 1

Imperial records contain very little about the Black Wolf Space Marines.  What is known is that they were once a Great Company of the Space Wolves.  The Black Wolf Lord, whose name is not indicated in the archives, was rewarded for heroic service in battle with command over Herjolfsnes.  A recently rediscovered planet on the southern fringe of Space Wolf territory, scans of Herjolfsnes indicated a population of nomadic tribes and rich mineral resources.  The entire company set off on a crusade to claim this jewel for the Space Wolves.  Early transmissions from Herjolfsnes indicated that successful contact had been made with the natives and that construction of a planetary defense base had begun.  Several months after the landing all transmissions fell silent.  In time, scouting ships were sent to investigate but no sign could be found of Herjolfsnes or the Black Wolves.  Although it is possible that the Sagas of the Space Wolves contain more information about the Black Wolves and their fate Imperial inquisitions into the matter have met with nothing more than veiled references to the Black Stone.  Read more... Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Bjorn Again

Hello all,

In my last post I included pictures of the pilot for my counts-as-Bjorn dreadnought, Raimos Sun-fist.  This model is based on an AOBR dread but I wanted something more distinctive for something that represents a Bjorn equivalent so I decided to replace the front of the model with the gunner cockpit from an Eldar Falcon and make the pilot visible.  This is the result so far:  Read more... Kamui’s Summer Challenge 2011: Introduction

For a long time now I’ve been forming the vision of my marines reborn.  I’ve been tweaking my fluff to match with current canon and gathering some of the models I wanted to include.  It looks like I’m going to have some extra modeling time during July and August so I’ve decided to set a goal of a completely painted 2000 point army by the end of summer.  For your entertainment, and for my own motivation, I’ll be posting my progress here.  Read more...
