Librarium: Disciples of Twilight
After lots of thought on the fluff for my Chaos army, Disciples of Twilight, a friend of mine mentioned something to me the other day and everything clicked. I’ve struggled with their fluff and for me fluff is what helps keep the army interesting. Now I have a direction and a lot of ideas.
Random: The Dark Gods Have Answered
This past weekend my wife and I had gone to see my in-laws. We were running around Saturday night and my wife asked to stop at Goodwill. I reluctantly agreed as I know she enjoys shopping there. I hate shopping. I’m one of those people who goes into a store to get what I want and leaves. She’s the opposite of that but she’s a big bargain shopper. The more she can save on an item the happier she is, so it could definitely be worse.
Ultramarines the Movie – Design a Standard Competition
So, unless you’ve been living under a rock then you’re aware there is an Ultramarines movie coming out soon. Well, back in May they began a competition where you designed a standard and submitted it. The deadline was June 27th and there has been no word yet on the winner. The reason I mention it is because I designed one and submitted it, which I almost forgot about until I saw the file sitting on my desktop. So, since I’ve got nothing better to blog about today I thought I’d share my entry into the competition.

Upcoming July Tournament
Not counting the recent 3-week tournament we held this month, I have not done a tournament since March. In the five tournaments I’ve done I have only fielded my Space Marines once. We are scored on painting and my Orks are fully painted so I’ve used them the most because I can assemble a list without worrying about what is and is not painted. The one time I did field my Marines I fielded only what was painted and the result was less than desired. That was the one time I went 0-3 for the day.

Well, the fun part of owning more than one army is, well, playing more than one army. I’ve been running my Orks hard for the past few months and it’s time they take a break. For the Emperor!
Creative Writing
For the past year or a bit more I’ve been feeling the urge to do some creative writing but just can’t seem to get there. I read a lot, I mean a lot, and naturally reading great novels can be inspiring. I want to pick up a pen (figuratively speaking, of course I’d type!), and write this amazing piece of fiction that everyone would love and would in turn inspire them. For some reason though it’s all eluding me and no doubt having no background in creative writing is only making the process all the more challenging for me. I did pick up a book this month on creative writing, which has been great. It has a lot of ideas and ways to get yourself going, ways to avoid stumbling blocks, things of that nature. Maybe I should finish reading it…
I Need a Direction
Last night I got in two games using my Marines. Both games were against fellow Marines and both games were losses. My record is far from great with my Marines. I love the fluff, I enjoy the modeling and I like the models themselves but I just can’t seem to win a game with them. I’ve been thinking long and hard as to why I’m not doing better and I think I’ve come to a conclusion.

As the owner if three 40K armies I tend to bounce between them, though my Necrons are usually neglected. I started 40K with Orks and then about a year later I started up my Necrons. About a year after that I got into Space Marines. As much as I’ve become a fan boy of Space Marines, Orks still remain my favorite 40K army. It’s an army with so much character that it’s hard to play them and not role play the army as you’re gaming, which I do and probably the reason I won best sport the two times I’ve used them :)

Awaken Necrons
Heading down to Crossroads tonight for the weekly 40K night and I’ll be bringing my Necrons. Lately it’s been slow at the shop on 40K night, last week just I showed up. Fortunately Dave, an employee, plays so we threw down a game. This week is looking scarce again but we have a few new players that are showing up tonight, so this seemed a good time for me to refresh myself on my Necrons. They’ll get to learn 40K against an army that’s easy to learn against, aside from WBB Necron rules are simple, and I get to bring myself up to speed again against an opponent that’s not going to destroy me for being rusty.
Battle of Inimīcōrum – Chapter 1

Planetary Empires
Down at Crossroads we have just started up a Planetary Empires campaign. Last night was the first night and we had a good showing of six players to kick it off. I’ve always been a fan of campaigns as having a goal for your battles and a chance to write in some fluff for your army is nice. We plan to play it over eight weeks, so I’ll hopefully get plenty of material to fluff out my Marine chapter Fate’s Angels some more.
