Disciples of Twilight Get Tzeentchy – Chaos Space Marines 1,750 List

Last week when I played Chris I threw together a list last-minute. I have always wanted to add some Tzeentch flavor to my lists, and I had a blast in that game. I knew I was on the right path with the list, since I enjoyed it so much, so I sat down and began working it into something more fine-tuned. This is what I came up with.

Disciples of Twilight (Chaos Space Marines): 1,750

  • Soulgore (Chaos Lord) – Bolt Pistol, Axe of Blind Fury, Sigil of Corruption, Chaos Bike, Mark of Khorne, Melta Bombs
  • Herald of Tzeentch – Psyker (M2), Disc of Tzeentch, Exalted Reward

  • Vengeance (Chaos Space Marines) x 5 – Veterans of the Long War, Plasma Gun
    • Aspiring Champion – Melta Bombs, Combi-plasma
    • Rhino – Dozer Blade
  • Redemption (Chaos Space Marines) x 5 – Veterans of the Long War, Meltagun
    • Aspiring Champion – Melta Bombs, Combi-melta
    • Rhino – Dozer Blade
  • Daemonettes x 10
    • Alluress

Fast Attack

  • Spawn x 2 – Mark of Nurgle
  • Spawn x 2 – Mark of Nurgle
  • Chaos Bikers x 7 – Meltagun x 2
    • Champion – Meltabombs
  • Screamers of Tzeentch x 5

Heavy Support

  • Forgefiend – Ectoplasma Cannon x 3

Lord of War

  • Chaos Knight Errant – Ion Shield, Heavy Stubber, Thermal Cannon, Foe-reaper Chainsword, Daemon Knight of Tzeentch, Dirge Caster

I wanted to make the Herald of Tzeentch more useful, so he got mastery 2, and an Exalted Reward to get to Grimoire. This will let him take up a better support role with psychic powers, plus tossing out Grimoire where I need it. A Chaos Knight with a 3++…um, yes.

The other big change was for me to drop the Bloodletters for Daemonettes. Daemonettes are another one of those units I’ve liked, but I just haven’t given them a shot on the table since I don’t actually own them. I will proxy them in to test with for now. The thing I like about Daemonettes is their speed in terms of initiative, and with their movement (+3″ run move & fleet). They are just as squishy as Bloodletters, but at least I’ll be able to better position them.

That’s a big thing with the list as well, speed. There are no slow units in this list, so the hope is to put pressure where I need it, when I need it. Other than the Knight, I don’t have any real big heavy hitters. I’m going to have to be careful to not get too strung out, and to make sure my units are mutually supporting one another.

I will get to try this list out today, so here’s hoping for another fun game!

  • Needs more Tzeentch ;)

    • Well, it does have 100% more Tzeentch than I normally run. So, there is that :)

      • Step in the right direction boss. Good luck with it :)

  • The other thing I like about Daemonettes over Bloodletters is their ability to handle tougher targets. Not necessarily reliably, but it’s still a lot of Rending Attacks, which can push damage through on GMCs, AV12, or 2+Svs.
