Hobby: Plague Champion 2 Complete (Pics)

Nurgle IconFinally got this guy wrapped up and I’m pretty pleased with how he came out. I’m one of those people who paints based on value and position. Meaning my HQs and elites see more love than troop choices. However, with my Plague Marines in general I’ve spent more time on them then I would a normal Chaos Marine. My Sarges/Nobs/Champions always get more time then the rest of the unit but still not as substantial as other models I’ll paint for the army.

Tournament Report: Kill Team

Kill Team - Ruined CityEvery few months we run a quick Kill Team tournament at my FLGS. There’s always a good showing and last night we had 16 of us for it. The last time we did this I ran five Chaos Terminators and got smoked in all three games. This time I opted for seven Plague Marines with two plasma guns. I gave one plasma gun infiltrate, one relentless and a bolter guy slow and purposeful.

Painting: WIP Plague Champion & Magnet Mounter

NurgleThis Plague Champion is the final model in this particular unit and he’s close to completion. Though further from completion are shots of his arms which are magnetized. I took the shots not so much to show the arms as the simple setup I have for the magnetized arms. The ‘arm holder’ is just some scrap stuff glued together with magnets on the end of the T. It’s great for holding the arms to prime, seal, let dry when using washes and to ensure my magnet polarity is always correct.

December Tournament Report: The Chaos Induction

Tournament: KrampusOriginally we, myself and two other authors here, had planned on doing a joint battle report but that never came to pass. I had already written my portion of things so instead of wasting it I may as well toss it up here.

Perception: Know Thyself

PerceptionThere comes a time for many gamers were you seem to reach a plateau. You hit a point where no matter what you do things never change. We’re human, we’re competitive, we want to excel. Is there anyone who doesn’t want to get better with their hobby? So how do you overcome it?

Command Center: v1.12.0 New Feature

Command Center: Free army list building tool for Warhammer 40KThis was a feature I had put off for a while because honestly it was a pain in the ass to make work correctly. I’m glad though that I finally got around to making the effort because for anyone who uses Command Center with regularity they will find this feature invaluable.

Battle Report: Team Game with Chaos

Battle Report - ChaosWednesday night at my FLGS I played a team game. January’s tournament will be a team game with 1,250 per-player and random pairings. The force org is restricted to avoid breaking it and make pairings easier. It’s 1 HQ, 0-1 elite, 1-3 troops, 0-1 fast attack and 0-1 heavy and you can add 1 more to any of the 0-1 selections. In my continuing effort to test things out with Chaos I brought this list, the same one I used last week: http://cmdctr.net/lists/611.

Year in Review on the Gaming Front

Year in Review 2011I thought it would be interesting, to me if nobody else, to make use of all the match data that I keep. I’ve played for just over five years now and have recorded every game. So, let’s see how I’ve progressed, or digressed as the case may be, over those years.

Fund Raiser: Polar Bear Plunge for a Great Cause

A fellow 40K player at the LGS is doing a fund raiser for a great cause. I wanted to pass this along and help him and the cause out.

Mission: Attack and Defend v3.0.0

Disciples of Twilight: Minor Update

Disciples of Twilight Paint SchemeSo, Santa was pretty nice to me. Between the bonus I got at work and the misses’ xmas gift I can add more to my growing Chaos army, Disciples of Twilight. Naturally, as is the case with me when I can get something, I’m just not sure what to snag yet. At the moment I own:

Battle Report: Planetstrike – The Forgotten Expansion

Battle Report - TyphusI recall when Planetstrike was due out how excited I was to try it. That was just about three years ago and I had only played it twice despite owning the book. Last night though at my FLGS almost everyone decided to play Planetstrike.
