Site News: We’re Seeking Interested Authors

Blog AuthorsI’ll be honest, I’m looking to breath some more life into this blog. We have a steady readership here and most every month sees the blog grow a little more, all good stuff. However, I know more can be done here and we just need the right authors.

Now, before you jump the gun and get ready to submit to me your information there’s some things you should know. First, if you’ve never blogged before then get ready for some work. Blogging is fun, it’s addicting but it’s also time consuming. I’m looking for people who are dedicated and willing to commit the time necessary to put out quality articles. Second, and relating to the first, I need commitment. I’m not after someone who puts up a new article once every few months, I’m after something far more regular. I assure you it sounds easier than it really is. Lastly, I’m after articles that are well written. You don’t need to be an English professor by any means, I’m certainly not, but I’m also not after articles like, “how 2 pwn”.

Beyond that criteria really anything goes. I don’t care if you play WHFB, Malifaux, Warmachine, or any of the numerous systems out there. I write about 40K because it’s what I play but this blog isn’t a 40K only blog. Likewise you could write about list creation, strategy & tactics, hobby stuff, whatever.

If you’re sincerely interested in being an author here then please use the contact form below. I’ll contact everyone who submits their information and take it from there. Not everyone will make it, well unless only one person contacts me and that person is super qualified :), but I’ll let you all know.

I began playing Warhammer 40K in 2006, and have been an avid player and hobbyist since then. I have also been blogging about 40K for almost as long as I've been playing it, having started Creative Twilight in 2009.

Thor you hit the nail on the head with time consuming. Who ever throws there hat in remember you would be adding this on top of all the things you already do. ie if you read 5 other blogs you would continue to do that and this. Ultimately only so much time in a day.

    • And just think, I average 5-6 articles a week :P

Well I am going to make a whole hearted push for 1 a week

    • I agree on the time consuming part.  I have trouble finding the time to work on the models I want to finish, and blogging eats into the same time slots.  It’s hard to take that extra half hour to take and upload pics as I’m working.  Then another 30-60 minutes typing up a post, arranging the pics, proofreading what I’ve written, etc.  I’m sure it would be quicker per post if I did it more often but it’s a hard habit to build.

Thor, I don’t know how you get actual work done…

      • Most days I get to work early and just work on posts. I eat lunch at my desk so I often use that time for blogging too. If I didn’t have the job I do where I’m at a computer all day long then I’d be lucky to get a post up a week.

        • I think I could commit to one per week.  It would b easier for me if we went with the same day each week.  This would give me a deadline (which always helps motivate me) as well as a day that I know I won’ t be posting over anyone else.

          • You have a day preference? Thursdays I often do reports from Wednesday. Other than that I really don’t have a set schedule on days.

            • I’m pretty open as far as which day.  Most of the posts would be a hobby update on what I’ve managed through the week.  I currently have a post scheduled for Monday so I could start there, but if there’s a day that you’re less likely to fill I can take that.

              • Sure, let’s roll with you on Monday. It will give you the weekend to get some shots taken of your stuff.

  • ming from b&c

But does that make you a blog editor in chief?  Assign topics, etc?  Just wondering.  As you know I have a blog elsewhere, with fewer regular  viewers but great content.

    • Not really. I’m just the guy with the platform and readers.
