A few changes you’ll notice. First, I’m trying to sticky the most recent articles of value so they stick to the top. If you only come here to read something slightly insightful then those are stuck at the top with the blue background. Second, there are these things called asides you’re going to see. Basically these are small blurbs and not full blown articles, exactly what you’re reading now! These are sprinkled everywhere and what I like about labeling things as asides, like this article, is that it doesn’t draw attention away from the “real” articles I have here but gets some info out there.
I’ve updated the blog to the newest version and with it comes a lot of great things. I’m in the process of setting up the theme and changing the way things look. The theme I was using was a bit intensive and I’m hoping the stock theme will work out better.
Creative Twilight is One Year Old!
One year ago I started this site promoting commission painting. In the course of a year much has changed here. In that time I’ve only done commission work for two clients, one client came back for another round, and I’m in the process of doing work for a third client. With not much to post about regarding commission work I began posting some of my 40K ramblings and have really since become hooked on it. There are a lot of great 40K blogs out there but I figured I’d try and carve myself a niche if I could. I haven’t quite gotten there yet but I’m working on it and I don’t give up easy. I have a lot to learn about blogging still and hopefully some day my writing and articles here will match my passion for 40K. Also, Kamui, who is a personal friend of mine, is posting articles here too. He hasn’t put much up yet but hopefully that will change…right, Kamui?
If you haven’t noticed there are multiple ways to stay connected with the site. At the very top you’ll notice icons for an RSS Feed (using FeedBurner), Twitter and Facebook. To the right you’ll see that Disqus is used for commenting (which uses multiple services), and Google Friend Connect for following. Regardless of your medium for social interactions you should be able to keep updated with us here.
The previous theme was very clean looking, professional and nicely done but it was a pain in my ass. I put a ton of work into revising it so I was happy with it and even then I had some issues still. Most of those issues got resolved in a new version of theme, which was great, but at the same time all my work was gone. I of course had backups of the work I did but even still it meant making all those updates again…just not worth it. Plus, really the style was for magazines with the cool image slider and post images. Most of the images I was using I probably shouldn’t have been and that theme put the focus on the images and less on the content. So all that being said, I’m happy with this theme you’re seeing. It’s clean and simple and easy to work with from the back end.
Welcome Aboard, Kamui!
I’ve asked a friend of mine, Kamui, to jump on board here and write some articles when he has a chance, and he’s agreed.
Hello…is Anyone There?
Having revised the format of my site to actually start blogging about 40K I’ve seen an increase in traffic, which is great. As I stated when I started doing this, I have no illusions that this is going to be anything revolutionary and become the must-read 40K blog out there. There are too many great 40K blogs going already, many of which I read myself. However, hopefully I offer up something useful here and some items of interest.
It was about time for a new look here. The theme I was using before I had built off of an existing theme. Since I was just getting familiar with WordPress I kept it simple. Many months later and having played around a lot with it, I’ve grabbed this great theme and am still in the process of getting things setup. I’ll probably alter the theme it a bit to give some flavor but out of the box this theme is just great and I see very little that I need to bother altering.
I have some fluff and stories I’ve written for my 40K armies that has existed on a private forum I set up for my friends and I. Seeing as it has always been private I figured it was time to put it out there for others to read who may be interested.
Changes are Coming!
I set up this site originally for commission painting, and I’ll continue doing commission painting, but seeing as that’s just something I do for fun, well I feel this site is being wasted. By that I mean that I don’t do a lot of commission work and meanwhile the site just sits here collecting dust so I may as well make use of it. I plan to turn this into a 40k blog where I post the things that float around in my head like fluff for my armies, some battle reports, general 40k thoughts, things of that nature.
Well, the site is up and running and information can be found in the various posts and pages. I will be adjusting the template I’m using when I find time. Meanwhile, I’d say things are live!
Coming Soon!
I’m in the process of getting the site up and running so bear with me while I do so.
