Thor’s Workbench: Heldrake WIP (Update #2)
I know Rob @ Warhammer39,999 loves it when I do updates to models that have made seemingly little progress and all but here’s an update on my Heldrake :P Seriously though, I do these little updates to keep my motivation going. I often reach these points where I sit back and think, I’ve actually made some progress. This is one of those points.

Tournament Report: Chaos Climbs to the Top
Tournaments burn me out. I enjoy them, don’t get me wrong, but after one I’m hardly in a condition to write-up cool reports. That being said, I didn’t do one for the previous month so something is better than nothing, right?

Thor’s Workbench: WIP Sculpted Juggernaut
I enjoy sculpting more than any other part of the hobby. I don’t get to do it very often though. If I were to sculpt as much as I’d like to then nothing would get ever get done on my armies. However, I’ll often come up with a big project, a showpiece I suppose, and focus on that one thing. That’s what this is, my juggernaut.

Chaos Allies: Giving Imperial Guard a Go
I held off on making my preferred choice on an allied detachment until the Daemons codex came out. Let me be honest, I have not looked over the Daemons’ codex thoroughly. I have gone through it all but trying to create a list is something I have not done. The reason being that nothing caught my eye. I’m definitely not saying it’s a bad codex or anything like that, just that nothing jumped out at me and made me want to try them.

Thor’s Workbench: Chaos Marines WIP #2
It doesn’t look like it but I have made a lot of progress on these guys since last week. The armor is now all base coated and the half scheme cleaned up. Now I need to do some more clean up on the sombre grey, pick out details, do some washing and highlighting. It’s the base coating on these guys that takes all the time, getting all that trim, so I’m into the home stretch.

Crusade of Fire: Tau Incursion
This week was the fourth week in our Crusade of Fire campaign. It was an off-week for us though. Instead of moving into the next phase of the campaign, as we normally would have, we continued from our previous week. The next phase requires some additional planning that wasn’t ready yet.

Thor’s Workbench: WIP Chaos Marines
After wrapping up my Cultists last week I figured I’d stick with troops for now on the painting front. I’ve had the other half of this squad painted for a while now and figured it was about time to get the full squad finished.

Crusade of Fire: Swift Strike
Last Wednesday was the 3rd week in our Crusade of Fire campaign. Having won in the prior two weeks I was one of the last to get the ability to challenge. Before I had the chance though I was challenged by Spectre Senence and his Dark Eldar. We were going to fight for a position I held on the small moon, Veth. We’re suppossed to do Planetstrike for off planet attacks, unless you hold a space port, but we just went for a normal game.
Thor’s Workbench: Chaos Cultists WIP #3
Well, the latest batch of Cultists is almost done. Not much to say other than I’m working on the basing now and the rest is complete. Usual disclaimer, quick shot and some day (in a time far, far away), I’ll get some proper shots taken.

Crusade of Fire: Hive City Purge
This week was our second week in our Crusade of Fire campaign. Following the book, we let those with fewer flags issue challenges and I was challenged by a Sisters player who was looking to take my hive city. The campaign suggests using Cities of Death for hive city attacks and so we busted out a copy and browsed through. I have not played Cities of Death in years so I was looking forward to it. I’d love to have sat down to read it in full, as I don’t own it, but we didn’t want to spend an hour getting intimately familiar with it. We picked up on the major points of the book and got to it.
Thor’s Workbench: Cultists WIP #2
I’m continuing work on my Cultists, trying to get the unit done. The first five are done and will get sealed today. This batch has four as I save the Champion to do last and give him some more attention than his squad. Here’s a quick shot of them.

Crusade of Fire: Beginnings in Blood
At my FLGS we decided to run a large Crusade of Fire campaign. On Wednesday night we had a total of 21 players attend which we broke out into the three teams. I’m playing Disciples of Twilight, my Chaos Marines. Seeing as my warband’s fluff is still in-the-making, I figured this would be a good chance to get some fluff established. So, I’m going to try and get some narrative style battle reports up, starting with this one.
Thor’s Workbench: Cultists WIP #1
I haven’t done one of these for a while because I lost motivation. My break from painting after The Standish Standoff kept getting longer and longer. Coupled with all the major ass kickings I’ve been receiving lately, well, interest has not been there. However, it was time to break the dry spell and finish off some Cultists I started months ago.

Battle Review: Chaos vs Daemons
I opted for a different approach with my Chaos list this time out. I have been struggling with my Chaos Marines lately, for various reasons, and something had to change. Long story short, I needed to play a list I enjoyed. I don’t often make balanced lists, they bore me, and the lists I’ve been playing lately have been going in the right direction (for me), but just not cutting it.

Thor’s Workbench: More Modeling
With the holidays I have not managed to get a ton done lately. The other week I did paint up one Chaos Biker – shots of him some day. Otherwise it’s been modeling, and even then slowly. Here you’ll see my Biker Champion almost fully assembled, nothing special. It will be nice to stop proxying an Ork Biker as a Champion.

Chaos Marines & Allies
I’m far from done my Chaos army in terms of collecting (is anyone ever truly done collecting?), but it’s built up enough at this point that I feel comfortable exploring allies. So, I figured I’d explore the options a bit here.
