Gamers Just Wanna Have Fun
What constitutes fun inevitably varies player to player but the the truth is that when we play we do want to have fun, well unless you’re a masochist. It’s easy to get caught up in the competitive nature of things. Be that besting your favorite enemy or winning a tournament. Some times you just need to step back and relax. It’s just a game, albeit a game we all obsess about beyond what probably passes for healthy, but a game none-the-less.

Well, the fun part of owning more than one army is, well, playing more than one army. I’ve been running my Orks hard for the past few months and it’s time they take a break. For the Emperor!
Week #3 – June’s Tournament
Last night was the final night for the ongoing tournament. I’m not feeling up to writing a narrative battle report so here’s the breakdown. I played two games last night. My first game was against the best Ork player at the shop, also one of the best players at the shop period. So good in fact that he’s going to ‘ard Boyz Nationals. My list was:

Feeling the urge to write up some form of battle report for the first game in the three week tournament, I wrote a narrative report that I’ve put under Stories titled My Battlewagon! I enjoy creative writing and want to get into it more so I thought this was a good way to get warmed up. Enjoy!
June’s 1,500 Tournament
Crossroad Games is holding a 1,500 tournament this month but it’s being done differently than usual. The store is hosting the semis for ‘ard Boyz this month and wouldn’t be able to also host the normal monthly tournament. So what they’ve decided to do is hold the normal tournament over a three week period on the normal 40K gaming night. You have to stick with your army but can change your list each week. Everything else is normal, army comp scores, painting scores, etc.

Must Have Ork Wargear
My Top 40K Sites
We all have our favorite 40K sites, those sites we visit daily, weekly, or whatever your free time allows for. I wanted to share my top 40K sites and maybe you’ll find some new favorites. I’m not going to list these in any particular order since it would hurt my brain to really figure out which rank where, they’re all great sites! Without further ado.
When the Planets Align
Some times you wonder if all those beatings you are receiving on the table are finally going to manifest into something more than bruised pride. You tell yourself that with each loss you are learning, and you should be unless your an egomaniac and blame everything but yourself for the loss. So you take another loss, shake hands, collect your army and think about the match and analyze it pondering where your mistakes were, how you could have played it better. You take those lessons in loss to heart, evaluate your list, adjust your tactics and hope the next game fairs better for you.
Painboy
Here are some pics of a painboy I made as a going away gift for a friend.
Speed Freeks
Early on when I started Orks I knew I didn’t want to push around over 100 models and I quickly started going Speed Freek style. Back then Orks had clan rules and specialist rules for Speed Freeks and Feral Orks but I didn’t actually play a Speed Freek list. I just emulated the style because I was learning the game and Orks and didn’t want to confuse myself with a specialist list. This type of list was pretty unforgiving in 4th edition where glancing could destroy a vehicle, you had entanglement checks for ruined vehicles and there were three different charts for vehicle damage. As much as I enjoyed the ease of movement and approach to the list, it wasn’t the easiest of lists to play.
Orks – Tankbustas
When the latest Ork codex came out there were a ton of Ork players who quickly dismissed Tankbustas on account of the glory hog special rule. The rule states that a Tankbusta must shoot at a vehicle if it can see one and assault a vehicle if it can see one. Yes, I said assault a vehicle if it can see one, so you park a Rhino 20″ away then the Tankbustas will attempt to assault it. The rule is like a modified version of rage.
Get at it ye Gitz!
Experiences Against the New Blood Angels
I’ve now played three games against the new Blood Angels with my Orks. I have not seen everything the codex has to offer of course but I’ve certainly seen some of the key units and rules in those games.

Orks – Trukk Boyz Tactica
Orks – ‘ard Boyz Tactica
An ‘ard Boy costs 4pts more than a normal Boy, which is a pretty significant price increase. For every 3 ‘ard Boyz you buy you could have 2 more normal Boyz, IE: 3 ‘ard Boyz or 5 regular Boyz. So, is the 4+ save worth the big price increase? In my opinion, yes they are worth it, you just can’t use them like you would normal Boyz or you’re going to waste your points and then they won’t be worth it.
Orks – Stormboyz Overview
At a Glance
One of the first things you’ll notice is a Stormboy is twice the cost of a normal Boy and wonder if there’s justification to that cost. I feel they are worth every point if they are used appropriately. Stormboyz are normal Boyz with rokkit packs, so they have the same 6+ save and stats. This means you can’t just throw them at your opponent, you need to be selective in who they attack and when. I feel any list, be it KoS (Kult of Speed), footsloggers, mekanized, etc., can benefit from this unit as I’ll explain.
