Upcoming ‘ard Boyz and a Break for Me

May is the month for ‘ard Boyz and my FLGS will be holding preliminaries for it. The April tournament at the shop will be 2,500 to get ready for the encroaching ‘ard Boyz. Since I have no interest in ‘ard Boyz in May I’ll be skipping out on the April tournament also. A few months off from tournaments is a good thing I think. March’s Team Tournament Report

Team Games

The past two weeks I’ve had the chance to play team games to get ready for the tournament this Saturday and I’ve learned a lot in those two games. The first game was myself with my Necrons and an Ork player against Space Wolves and Sisters. That game had two objectives and me and my teammate split our forces and each went for an objective. We did well with him holding one and me holding another, though the other team got a last minute contest on my objective. Tournament Practice

Last night we managed to get in a practice team game for the upcoming tournament. We rolled for random partners and I got Jeremy, an Ork player. We faced off against Dave who was fielding his Witch Hunters and Big Nate who was playing Space Wolves. The short of it is that Jeremy and I took a major win. We played an old ‘ard Boyz mission, Drawn and Quartered, where you deploy using Spearhead and place an objective in the two quarters not deployed in. I moved a unit of Warriors with Lord and Immortals to the closer objective to secure it. I left my Destroyers hanging back and a unit of Warriors to back up an Ork unit of Shoota Boyz that were playing mid-field support. The Orks were able to blow through the two units of podded Grey Hunters to secure one objective and I walked to the other where I was able to stand my ground and unleash lots of gauss fire. In the end they managed to contest the objective I was holding with one Sister who refused to die but the Orks held theirs securely. March’s Tournament – Team Play (Retake)

On second thought, my often neglected Necrons will see the field in this team tournament. Nobody fields Necrons in the tournaments I’ve attended or on the regular Wednesday night 40K nights. I only know of one other person with Necrons and I know he won’t be fielding them. March’s Tournament – Team Play

So next month at Crossroads we’ll be doing a team tournament with a random partner. Each person will bring a 1,000 point list using normal force organization, though we’re debating using Adapticon’s approach with a restricted force org chart, which I’m all for. You Win Some, You Lose Some

In my case however I lost them all. Played at this month’s 40K tournament yesterday and was swept all three games. First game was a minor loss against Tyranids, the second a massacre loss against Space Wolves and the last a massacre loss against Orks. The Tournament Scene (Part2)

My other point with tournaments was a learning experience. As I said in the last post, this last tournament I went into much more prepared. After the first tournament I began writing up my next army list for my Orks and spent a great deal of time fine tuning it.
