Finally wrapped up the last unpainted model for my Berzerker squad. As I mentioned on the WIP post, nothing really fancy with this guy; just a basic tabletop paint job.
I did do some blending on the power sword though. I always like making my power weapons stand out regardless of painting quality on the rest of the model. One or two elements on a model that are well painted can really draw focus away from an otherwise mediocre paint job.

Overall I’m happy with how this guy came out. Knocking out a model without the need for endless blending was a nice change from my last session. He fits in with the unit so I’m pleased with the result.
Regarding the power sword, I did a bunch of experimenting with it. I started off the same way I did the one for my Herald of Khorne, but realized that method was going to be way too time consuming. I then tried another method where you basically block in the colors and then blend the seams, but I found that annoying and not overly convincing.
Instead I tried something I’ve done before and found the process quick and effective. I would tell you what that technique was, but I want to master it more and do a tutorial on it; so you’ll have to wait :)
I can say that it’s a technique I haven’t seen before. That’s not to say I invented it, just that I haven’t run across it is all.

Nice work, especially on the power sword. But man, those Berzerker models are so ugly.
I’m one of those few who liked the models; I’m odd. I would like to see the kit updated though and get a more detailed kit.

I like the models and they are a bit old school but that is fine.
I do like your paint job and in particular the contrast with the sword. Even arming him with a sword is a nice change after the usual axe for Khorne models.
I love axes. Probably my favorite weapon aesthetically in general. However, yeah, with the change of power weapons being defined by type, swinging at I1 with an axe is less than ideal on this guy. With 5 attacks on the charge, he generally does well with that sword.
He looks good. I would def like to see how you done the sword. Nice touch with the snow on the feet, it is something I always forget to do
I want to do a few more attempts at power weapons like that to nail down the process. Hard to do a tutorial on something you experimented with without knowing the defined steps yet.
I just recently started doing the snow on the feet. It was something I did with my Bikes because I had one where the tire was all messed up. I used the snow to cover the issue and realized I should use that approach on all the models for a touch of realism.

I number my squads that way. Chaos doesn’t typically do squad numbering on the shoulder or anything like the Imperium so that way I can remember who goes where on the field.
Hah I actually like the model, though I feel the skull could be slightly more sinister…though maybe he is just laughing in the orgy of the blood he’s causing!
If this kit got the treatment all the new Chaos stuff is then it would be amazing. Give it a more baroque dark and sinister feel as they’ve been doing. Keep the general look but just enhance and define more.
