Steed of Slaanesh: WIP #3-1

Chaos Lord w/Steed of Slaanesh: Work in Progress #3

Here’s the final WIP post on the Steed of Slaanesh for my Chaos Lord, Soulgore. As noted last time, ignore the awkward side lean and forward lean on the model as it’s only pinned by one foot at the moment to the base just to test fit stuff.

This time the Lord has the proper arms for how I want to try him out, but of course they’re magnetized. I did a really simple conversion for a Burning Brand of Skalathrax and gave him a lightning claw. I saw someone else do the same conversion for the Burning Brand so I borrowed the idea. If it looks good, why not?

The idea is to have this setup be more of a skirmisher and go after weaker backfield units. He’ll outflank in with Bikes with plasma guns and then light up a unit. With their speed I should be able to (hopefully), avoid nastier close combat units and stick to weaker prey. We’ll see how it all works out. Of course there’s rumors floating around of a new Chaos codex in the next month or two, which will of course mean all my cool converted artifacts will likely go away. So it goes.

From here I’ll get things primed up and start painting in the next few days I hope.

I’ve since wrapped up the model. Check out my Chaos Lord on Steed of Slaanesh showcase.

Looking nice man and I am al really looking forward to seeing how he comes out.

Looking really good, Thor. I like the Burning Brand conversion, simple yet effective. Not sure if they will remove and redo all the artifacts this time around. The most effort seems to go into creating formations and detachments, with minor adjustments of points, stats and rules. But they should do something about the Scolls of Magnus and the Anathema.

Looking good Thor. I think how you paint the legs will be important here. I’d probably keep them a bit muted or darker compared to the torso, which should help blend the two a bit better (in terms of style).
