It’s been months since the last Gauntlet but it’s back. However, it’s not the same as it once was. Where before the Gauntlet was my attempt to try and get people to try out different things in a game to evolve and learn – including myself, it’s now going to just be my personal goals and ambitions, whatever they may be. It won’t be a hobby workbench thing though, strictly gaming related.
Next weekend the LGS is holding an 1,850 tournament. I’ll be bringing along my Marines for this one. I’ve done a few tournaments with my Marines and all but one of those have been very small games, like this week’s 500pt tournament or the previous team tournament. Only once have I fielded Fate’s Angels in a “normal” tournament and that day I went 0-3. That tournament where I got stomped was 10 months ago and I’d like to think I’ve grown a lot with my Marines and as a player in general since then.
So, the Gauntlet I’ve tasked myself with is to to go 2-1 for the upcoming tournament. If I go 3-0 then awesome, I’m truly aiming for nothing less, but I’m also pragmatic and will not delude myself either. I still have a lot of work to do before I feel completely comfortable in the skin of an Astartes but progress is being made and so I’ll task myself with a goal I know I’ll have to work at but is also achievable.
