After terrain has been set-up, but before determining Deployment Zones, the players must place 6 Objective Markers that are individually numbers 1 through 6 on the table, using the rules for Placing Objective Markers.
Dawn of War
The player that set up first can choose to take the first or second turn. If they decided to take the first turn, their opponent can attempt to Seize the Initiative.
The mission uses the Variable Game Length.
Achieve as many Tactical Objectives as possible. If, at the start of a players turn, he has fewer than 3 Active Tactical Objectives, he must generate a number of new Tactical Objectives until he has 3.
Gambit: At the start of the player’s turn, the player may nominate one of his Tactical Objectives as a Gambit. The Tactical Objective nominated cannot be for ‘Secure Objective X’. If the Tactical Objective is achieved on that player’s turn then the player receives 1 additional point. However, if the Tactical Objective is not accomplished that turn then the card is immediately discarded. In addition, the player may not draw another Tactical Objective the following turn to replace the failed Gambit. The player may draw cards normally, but only to a maximum of 2 cards instead of 3. The turn after that things return to normal, assuming the player has not failed another Gambit.
