Tau Fandex: Path Finders

Tau FandexLast Wednesday I came to the conclusion that I cant stand playing my Tau any more. I was teaching a friend how to play Tau. We were playing annihilation against a Thunder Wolf spam list and we played pretty well. My friend and I made few mistakes and we took advantage of the lack of experience that our opponents brought.

Quick Battle Report: Master & Apprentice

Master & ApprenticeI mentioned the other week this cool thing we’ve been doing at my FLGS, Master & Apprentice. I wasn’t able to make last week where I was going to apprentice to learn Dark Eldar but last night I made it down and taught an apprentice Chaos.

April Tournament Woes – Or Why I Learned to Stop Worrying and Get a New Army.

TournamentSo the monthly tournament rolled around at our humble FLGS, and I decided to make the requisite monthly pilgrimage. I actually live 2 1/2 hours away so I usually only get down there on for the tournament.

April Tournament Report: Snow…Seriously?

Tournament: Evil Easter BunnyIt was raining in the morning and by the time I got to the LGS for the monthly tournament it was snowing. Even for Maine that’s uncharacteristic and it did clear off later in the day and go figure, the next day was damn near 70 degrees. It is a rather good analogy of my day of gaming.

Weekly Battle Report: Big Team Game

Battle Report - TeamworkLast night at the LGS we held a bitz trade, got some cool stuff I needed, but it also resulted in a larger than usual turnout. There were four of us not gaming and one table, so we threw down a 4K per-side team game. I paired off with a Space Wolf player against Dark Eldar and Tau. I knew it would prove interesting as me and my teammate had a heavy assault force against an assault army paired with a shooty army. If they could work together well it would be rough for us. Here’s the battle report.

April Tournament: Tau Test List Version 2

This has grown out of my previous incarnation of my list as an attempt to get more delaying units and more plasma shots in my army. While still not an “internet approved” list, it is alot better for our local meta than the first list I think.

Weekly Battle: March 30th – Purging Xenos

Battle: Fight ClubInstead of doing a full blown battle report I figured I’d chat a bit about the stuff I was trying out. I played against Tau last night and I brought Fate’s Angels, my Marines. Since I had redone Attack and Defend I wanted to test it out. In short, the idea is to grab the enemy’s deployment zone with more scoring units than he has in his zone and have more in your own than he has in yours.

April Tournament Test List: 2000 Point Tau

TauThis will be a departure from my usual Tau list, as it hase become readily apparent that everyone has figured out how to absolutely own my poor fish-men. I’ve found that the mobility of recent 5th edition armies simply trumps my ability to shoot them as they close. So I’ve decided to go mobile myself. Here’s what I’m thinking.

Quick Report: January Team Tournament

Tournament: Bad DaySaturday was the monthly tournament at the LGS. This month was a random partner team tournament: 1,250 per-player with 1 HQ, 0-1 Elites, 1-3 Troops, 0-1 Fast Attack and 0-1 Heavy Support with the ability to double up one 0-1 slot. We had a pretty good showing with 10 teams (20 players), and I was paired up with a Tyranid player who I’m acquainted with, a co-worker of Kamui. I’d run through his list but I’m still terrible at remembering Nid unit names. I had my Necrons and ran this list here.

January Team Tourney: 1250 Point Tau List

TauTeam tournaments are always fun. I like being partnered up with a random person. The idea of not knowing what half your army is going to consist of prior to entering battle is enormously challenging. Four generals combining and pitting brain power and list power over three games of Warhammer 40k generally results in a hilariously good time for all involved.

December 1,850 Tournament Report

Tournament: BearLet’s dive right in, shall we? So, I ran a this Shrike list I have been toying with. My first game was against ShinyRhino/Todd the Goalie. He was running a biker army with Khan in a Command Squad and a Librarian with Assault Marines. The mission was spearhead deployment with objectives placed in the unoccupied quarters. To win you needed more objectives and kill points. I got first turn and picked the quarter with a building to put my Devs in while forcing him into open terrain, though he had some walls to hide behind, which he did. I took up firing positions to be able to hit him as he came around the walls.
