Custom Chaos Warpsmith Painting Showcase (Gallery)

This was hands down one of my favorite projects. I put a lot of time into sculpting and converting Warpsmith Grimtech and I’m very happy with the results.

Really, there’s very little on this model that I did not create, convert or alter.

    Sculpting Work

The cables were made using green stuff and the amazing tentacle maker. If you do a lot of sculpting work, then I’d definitely recommend you check out that tool. It’s super affordable and makes creating stuff like this so easy.

The backpack was kitbashed with some Chaos vehicle bits. I can’t recall exactly where those dragon heads came from though, but I just thought they looked perfect for this.

The eye lense on the helmet was sculpted, as was some additional armor plating on the legs to bulk things out a bit.

Of course the arms are magnetized to allow for some weapon options as needed. Magnets are my best friend. Seriously.

    Painting

Nothing overly fancy with the painting on the Warpsmith. Pretty much bog standard for my Chaos Marines.

I did try and play with the power axe a bit. I wanted to get a glowing edge to it, which came out decent if not perfect. I found it tricky to do the glowing look over a black area like that. Matter of practice I suppose.

    Conclusion

There you have it. My converted, kitbashed, and sculpted Chaos Warpsmith.

I had a lot of fun working on this guy and I can’t wait to see how well he does on the table.

He looks great! Nice work. The only critique is that he’s going to take up a fair amount of space in your figure case…

Very cool. That’s one big, honkin’ eye!

You made the right choice. It looks more…significant this way. Kinda looks like he ripped it out of an enemy vehicle or Dreadnought and kept it for himself.

Paint job and conversion look awesome. The rock is off putting I can’t figure it out it just makes the stance look awkward. That could just be the photos though.

Can’t wait to see it in person sometime soon.
