Thor’s Workbench: Painting Progress Update on Orruks

Small update today to show where I’m at with my Orruks for Shadespire. I know not everyone follows the blog on social media (though you should!), so not everyone has seen the current progress.

I wish I were further along too. I started this warband in April…Jesus. I just realized that. It’s not like I need to have the warband done soon for anything in particular, but it would be nice to move on.

My entire spring and summer has been dedicated to things outside the hobby. Between work and life, I haven’t had a day off in over a month. My painting time has been pretty limited to about 30 minutes in the morning, 4 days a week, so 2 hours a week total.

Anyway, here’s some stuff.

Da Gallery

Da Thoughts

I will do a proper gallery of the warband once everyone is done.

Some of these are done, but the shot above is prior to completion – what I tossed up on social media.

So, from top left to bottom right is the order I’ve worked on these.

Hakka (top left) is done. Basha (top right) is also done, as is Bonekutta (bottom left). Gurzag (bottom right) I just started on.

Gurzag is the last one I have to do and then the warband will be done. At the rate I’m going (pathetic), I should be done in a few more weeks.

Also, if you haven’t seen it yet, I did do a tutorial on the layering blending technique I’m using on the armor, if you’re curious how to accomplish it.

Update: The Ironskull’s Boyz are now fully painted!

Thanks. Sucks it’s taking me so long but I do like the results.

Looking great, I love the orange armor choice. Great skill the way you did it!
