Weekly Wrap-up: Tournment Bound

Wednesday night I got in a game against a good Ork player using my Marines. We play tested my mission Special Ops and had a good time with it. Hopefully next week I’ll get to play test Battlefield Superiority.

Rob over at Warhammer 39,999 had a great idea about reviving your old material and putting it out there. Check it out and join in on the fun.

Painting has been slow this week. I wrapped up my Vindicator which I started painting eight months ago, as well as a missile launcher Devastator I had half-done from the same time. Working on some other small items I keep neglecting like that and some hunter killer missiles and such.

This past week I put out two more Beginners Quizzes: 40K Beginners Quiz #4: Shooting Phase (Part 2) and 40K Beginners Quiz #5: Weapons.

On March 12th I’ll be heading down to Watertown, MA for a tournament being held by the Dorkamorka club called Battle for the Burbs. It’s a 1,750 tournament with 30 players that’s heavily comped. These guys are all about full 40K immersion. As a result I’ll be bringing along my Orks since they’re fully painted, well I do have two models to paint and two Tankbustas to build and paint but otherwise the army is ‘complete’. Also, these guys are big into themed armies and my Orks are definitely that. With that in mind, here’s the list I’ll most likely be bringing along. I play what I call Speedmek, which is a combination of Speed Freek and Mek-like elements.

* Warboss w/cybork body, mega-armor, attack squig, bosspole

  • You left my personal favorite aspect of the hobby out of the poll: Talking about the game. While the other aspects are cool, I find that I enjoy myself just as much (if not more) by simply talking about the game. I don’t have to be bothered to make an army list, set up a board, paint anything, etc. I can just reminisce about great times I’ve had playing the game…

Glad to see you advertising Old Stuf Day. I don’t think it’ll be huge this year, but hopefully it starts off small and grows each consecutive year. I appreciate the nod, but I don’t need credit for the idea. I’d rather it just fuel itself and become popular with me as one of the many people that celebrate it.

Best o luck in the tourney!

    • I had not thought about that. I’m with you though, I do the same and am content just chatting 40K.

Heh, it drives me crazy to talk about the game in a non-internets environment. Maybe that just has to do with the fact that I can more clearly state my mind on the internets than in person?

Anyways, looks like a cool list- does your Warboss actually have Klaw, or are you running him ‘naked’? Seems like he should at least have an ‘uge Choppa…

Are you going to take pictures at the event? :)

    • He has mega-armor, which comes with a PK :P

I hadn’t thought about taking pictures but I should probably bring along my small digital.
