So I’m not the first to do this, but I’ve converted a Christmas tree angel into a Weeping Angel. My wife and I are planning to use this instead of an “Elf on the shelf.”
It was a simple conversion. I re-positioned a Christmas tree angel, gave it a few coats of Rustoleum “Make it Stone” textured paint, then used an airbrush to get the color I wanted and add some quick highlights.
Here it is in the first hiding spot of the season. We’ll see how long the kids take to actually notice it up there…

That’s cool and nice work.
I had to look it up, what the weeping angel was from. It rang a bell but I couldn’t place it. I never got into Doctor Who but I think it’s awesome the girls are growing up geek.
Thanks. The Weeping Angels are one of the creepier Dr. Who creatures. They’ve become almost as iconic as the Daleks and Cybermen.
It is a lot of fun to share things like the Doctor with my girls. At one point my older girl drew the Doctor and Rose as unicorns…
haha! That’s awesome, the unicorns.
You ever get them into Firefly or trying to avoid heartbreak?
Firefly is still a bit mature for them, but some day!
Haha…i don’t watch the doctor, but I know this is going to cause some people to flip out!
It’s a great show! It’s a bit campy at times but that’s a big part of the fun. And once you get past that it actually has some very deep characters and interesting stories. I can understand why it’s not for everyone but it’s a favorite for my wife and me, and one of the few obsessions we can safely share with our girls. Most of the other shows we really enjoy are entirely inappropriate for children!
DIS-TUR-BING. I think you just broke Christmas!!
Good work though, that’s brilliant.
Uh-oh, what kind of glue do I need to put Christmas back together?!
Thanks!
Fair call. Credit where credit’s due and all. Doesn’t make it any less disturbing :)
