Rok da Vote: Favorite 40K Game Size

Space Marine & OrkIn trying to think of a new poll to toss up I went through my previous ones and was surprised I never asked this one. The question is straight forward, what’s your favorite point level to play 40K at?

Imperial Guard Allies for the Orks

friends for life - Imperial Guard & OrksHello all,

As I have been re-acquainting myself with the orks and adapting them to sixth edition I’ve noticed that they (still) have some issues dealing with tanks at long range.  I’m working on some tankbustas to help with this, but even these are only really good against tanks when they get up close.  Lootas are better against tanks in sixth but still struggle with AV12+.  In fifth edition I ran primarily Speed Freek builds, using speed to overcome the ranged disadvantage. In sixth I have option of allies so I’m considering some Imperial Guard.

Battle Review: Chaos vs Chaos

Huron BlackheartI’m going to start calling these battle reviews instead of battle reports; these articles that are glossing over a game for the sake of reviewing units and or my list.

The Hall Of Heroes: 2k No-Holds-Barred Warhammer 40k Tournament

The Hall Of Heroes

Hardcore Warhammer40k In Sparks, Nevada

Hello and Happy Howlidays everyone! For me Warhammer 40k Tournaments each are like a good book – I get deeply engrossed within each one and then BAM its all over and I have a hangover for a week. That means last week in addition to stuffing myself full of Thanksgiving goodness I was also in the serious process of recovering from the Wolfbrothers’ latest incursion into California at the end of the year Contest of Champions. Next week I will be deeply involved with getting ready for and competing in the next installment of our local no-holds-barred “Hall Of Heroes” escalation Tournament series!

Thor’s Workbench: Magnetized Maulerfiend/Forgefiend

MagnetMan, what a chore this was. I set out to fully magnetize this thing so it could be a Maulerfiend or a Forgefiend. I succeeded in doing so but it was a ton of work. First up, a few shots of the completed model. Quality is lacking as I just took some shots with my phone. Click to enlarge.

Kamui’s Workbench: Tankbusta’s WIP

This gallery contains 6 photos.

Hello All,

Between the holiday and some projects around the house I haven’t been particularly productive on the hobby front.  I have managed to put some work into a mob of tankbustas.  These were the victim of a painting experiment that didn’t quite succeed, but at least I will be able to finish them up without stripping them.  I spent some time reworking a couple of the conversions that I wasn’t happy with.  The hammers and at least one of the rokkit launchers are still awaiting some green stuff.  The bob-omb squigs still need some work as well.

Forge World : Working with Resin

There are gifted modelers, who work with different materials such as plastic, resin and green stuff… Thor is one of those. Then, there are the rest of us. One of the things I like about 40k is the background, including the Horus Heresy. That means either acquiring insane modeling skills, or buying resin crack from the UK. Therefore, I have learned the hard way to work with a resin model.

Chaos Marines: Maulerfiend & Heldrake Experiences

MaulerfiendI have been doing a lot of experimenting with the new Chaos Marines. I’m done with struggling playing lists using what I own and I need to grow the army. To that end I’ve begun working on a list featuring Spawn and Bikers so far. I’ve been toying around with a few other units as well and have learned a few things.

Orks in sixth: What I’ve learned so far.

Hello all,

Shortly into 6th edition I decided to shelve the Space Wolves for a bit and bring the orks back out.  My biggest reason for doing this was a chance to work on something different.  Although there are plenty of things you can do to the marine models there is a freedom of expression with the orks that isn’t quite the same with other armies.  Anyway, I wanted to review what my games with the orks have taught me so far.

New Army Itch

NEW Army Itch

NEW Army Itch

It’s that wonderful autumn-winter Season here in the High Desert of Reno/Sparks, Nevada – the cool windy center of WOLFBROTHER Territory.  Many of our brothers attack the snow covered mountains of the High Sierra with sadistic glee. Some lick their wounds from the last brutal local tournament and prepare for the next, and others get ready for the last murdermake of 2012 down the mountains into California.  The great chill of winter is almost set in, and everyone has big plans for the great 40k off season.

THE HYPERION CAMPAIGN (3 of 4)

This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Hyperion Campaign

So the fight for the Icarus Platform has ended and now it’s time to move the violence to the planet surface!  If you missed the battle scenario and report for Episode I of the Campaign you can find it here at Brinkschaostheory.blogspot.com.  The Crimson Fist heroes above were defeated by the fallen Eldar of the Rancid Blade.  Before that, here on Creative Twilight, was my intro to how I wanted to run the Campaign.

Ponderings: Squads of Chaos Space Marines

Chaos - NurgleOn Wednesday night I ran two squads of CSM (Chaos Space Marines). It’s hard to deny that the current codex is geared towards undivided so I thought I’d give it a go and see what I thought. At the moment I’m still on the fence but figured I’d toss out my thoughts and solicit feedback as well.
