Showcase: Titan Bay Thunderhawks Linemen for Blood Bowl

I got the last three Human Linemen painted up the other week for my starting roster, so I figured I’d do a group shot.

I have to admit that I like how the team is coming out. I could easily have this team done if I were shooting for the same standard I do with most of my 40K stuff. However, I’m taking my time and enjoying the process. Plus, I was curious to see how quickly, or slowly, I could paint the team to the standard I’m doing. Surprisingly it’s not too bad now that I have the process worked out.

With the Linemen done (for now), I’ve moved on to the Blitzers. I have four of them to get done. The final model will be the Ogre, but more on that soon ;)

  • Great work on them Thor, the team is really coming together and looks amazing.

    • Thank you.

A small team like this is perfect for my slow painting. Even when you only get one model done, it’s still like 10% of your team ;)

      • So true! I’ve been contemplating building a kill team size force for each of the 40k factions for years because of that reason.

        • Yep! The longer I play these games the more I realize that painting up hundreds of dudes for a game is wearing thin. It’s why I could never start another 40K army at this point. At least with my CSM it’s just the odd unit or model that needs paint.

  • Great work Thor. Man, I need to try Blood Bowl at some point.

    • I appreciate it.

If you’ve played any of GW’s specialist games, and enjoyed them, then you’ll love Blood Bowl. Easy to learn and fun to play. It’s got a tight ruleset, and the games are smooth. Definitely check it out.

  • They came together well. Bravo.

    • Gracias.

      • Plus painted minis do better.

        • Oh. I’ve proven that false. In fact, my newly painted miniatures perform worse than unpainted ones. It’s like they’re nervous or something once they get painted.

  • Looking good. How did you get the white lines on the bases so straight? Lay a pencil on the desktop and draw around the base by turning it?

    • Thank you.

Nope. That’s all freehand. I have a brush that’s great for fat lines like that. I did see someone do what you’re talking about though, but he used a knife to score it to make it even easier.

  • Ok already said that it is becoming amazing, but I find the contrast between the matt&soft armour and the vibrant green brilliant!

    • Glad you like it!

  • Really nice job on them dude. The extra work you have put into them has really paid off, they look fab :)

    • Thank you.

I’m just realizing I should have made those shots bigger. It’s the same size I always use, but that’s when there’s 1 model, not 5. Doh! Maybe I’ll update these ones…

  • Awesome team Thor. So clean!!! Agree that next time you should do some single shots of each member!

    • Thank you.

I’m not sure I’ll do singles, but I did make those images bigger than previously – which you probably didn’t see. I may make them even bigger the next time. Anyway, if I make the shots big enough then it’s the same size view, but I don’t have to set up 5-6 individual models ;)
